Homes Of The Year

A little bit of Tuscan, a little bit of French country, a touch of craftsman and one very contemporary home made up the six 2006 Homes of the Year winners. Each varies in price and personality, and each is tailored to the owners' specific desires. A home can be built to accommodate children, art, pets or a view, and this year we saw it all. In our fourth year of presenting you with Homes of the Year, 417 Home received 22 entries and eventually found our way to our five winners in each price-point category, as well as our one overall winner. For top honors, you need more than a golf course view.

Everything old is new again as we saw in many of these homes. Products and appliances that looked aged but had the convenience of modern amenities sprouted up again and again. Technology brought us impressive sound systems and the leading developments in energy efficiency. Many of these homeowners, builders and architects weren't afraid to be innovative, and this creative freedom led to some inspiring ideas. Come take a walk through the inner workings of these extraordinary homes.
