Jennifer Mais met Tom Weber while playing Springfield Park Board Volleyball. “A guy we mutually know was putting a team together, and we both ended up on it,” Jennifer says. The two played together every week, and they often hung out after matches. “It was 2006, the year the Cardinals won the World Series,” Jennifer says. “Our first dates centered around the baseball playoffs. It worked out well because we are both big Cardinals fans,” she says.
A couple years later, Tom proposed to Jennifer when she went on vacation with his family to the Mayan Riviera. But it didn’t go exactly as he planned. Jennifer opened the safe to collect their towel cards, which they needed to get their towels on the beach.“When I looked inside, there was a big shiny diamond ring staring back at me,” she says. Jennifer didn’t tell Tom she found the ring, but he noticed the safe was opened later. At first he was afraid someone stole the ring, but then he realized what happened, so he got down on one knee in the hotel room and asked her to marry him.
The couple married at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, and reception followed at the Ramada Oasis Convention Center.
