Carrie & Jim

I knew that I wanted him from the moment we were introduced in 2005, says Carrie Parks of her groom, Jim Quesenberry. “He was charming, handsome and exciting.”
It all started at a Women In Need of the Ozarks (WIN) event in which Carrie, the group’s president and co-founder, presented a car to a local woman in crises. Jim, who was new to the organization, was so touched by the event that he offered to donate gas for a year to the recipient.
“Here was this pretty, smart, dynamic gal giving an impassioned plea for donations,” Jim says. “That impressed me a great deal. From the first moment, she had my admiration because she was so willing to give her time and efforts to help other people. It wasn’t all about her, which is uncommon.”
They met that night but didn’t see each other again until six months later. They decided to go out to dinner and have been together ever since.
The wedding location combined the couple’s love of water and the outdoors. The ceremony, which took place in the center of the bridge spanning Bull Creek, was very personalized, drawing on Carrie’s love of shopping and Jim’s fishing hobby. Carrie changed dresses for the reception.
Bright colors were the theme and Carrie, a non-traditionalist, had homemade cupcakes rather than wedding cake. Jim’s 17-year old daughter, Shannon, sang a special song to him at the reception, and the couple’s dog, Buddy, was also part of the festivities.
