An undeniable chemistry brought Rachel Dapp and Jordan Jones together. “We have very different personalities, so we challenge each other every day,” Rachel says. “But we have so much common ground. We share the same beliefs and values.”
Although Rachel and Jordan went to the same high school, they didn’t officially meet until college. The couple was introduced by a friend of Rachel’s (interestingly, an ex-girlfriend of Jordan’s) in American History 101 at Drury University. “Being in the same class sort of initiated things,” Rachel says.
The couple married on August 11, 2007. The hot summer day was nearly 100 degrees, so they waited until sunset for the outdoor ceremony. “Both the ceremony and reception were in my parents’ backyard in southwest Springfield,” Rachel says. “They have a wooded area in their backyard, so it provided the perfect backdrop.” Sharon Taylor of Sharon Taylor Design & Co., who was the wedding coordinator, helped Rachel give the outdoor setting a modern take on a 1920s theme.
Rachel’s bridal gown was custom-made, thanks to seamstress Saundra Dent, whom she found through Ella Weiss Wedding Design in downtown Springfield. Made from silk Dupioni, the fabric was a virtual steal. “I got it for $75 from a fabric store that was going out of business in Kansas City,” Rachel says. She took the fabric and a picture of her dream dress to Ella Weiss Wedding Design, where Stephanie Weiss hooked her up with Dent. “She created the most beautiful gown I have ever seen,” Rachel says.
Alex Dapp, Rachel’s sister, and Dylan Jones, Jordan’s brother, served as the maid-of-honor and best man.
Jordan and Rachel went to Disney World for their honeymoon. “We’re just a couple of kids at heart, so it was the perfect place to spend our first week as husband and wife,” Rachel says.
