The rental package at Ms. Gilmore's Carriage house includes linens, votives and candelabras.

Two hundred chairs. Twenty candelabras. Periwinkle table linens. Most people don’t have these items stashed away in their attics, so today’s brides rely on the help of rental stores.

When former bride-to-be Bethany Schwab and her fiancé, Kory Scullawl, were planning their June 5 wedding at Ms. Gilmore’s Carriage House, rentals became a major line item in their budget. “We wanted our outside location to have a shabby-chic, airy garden wedding theme,” Bethany says. She used the rental package at Ms. Gilmore’s Carriage House, which includes linens and a lot of votives and candelabras, among other things. And the florist, Artistry in Bloom, provided the centerpieces. Bethany says her wedding planner, Lenette Kujawa of Aflair, helped her figure out what she needed. “Lenette knew that I was pretty budget-conscious, and she helped me narrow down the vendors and find people in our price point who could achieve the look we were after,” Bethany says.

But if it’s not the traditional cloth napkins and formal champagne glasses you’re after, don’t think you’re out of luck. Outside-of-the-box brides- and grooms-to-be aren’t forgotten. Ted Amberg, The CEO of Amberg Entertainment, says Amberg rents out a variety of fun items. “Lately, it has been really popular to have casino games at the reception,” Amberg says. Popular games include blackjack, craps and poker. “And receptions aren’t usually fun for little kids,” Amberg says. “A lot of couples rent inflatable games to entertain the younger crowd.” Amberg Entertainment also offers slushie and popcorn machines, laser spot games (for virtual hunting) and more.]

If you want guests to have a souvenir of your big day, you should check out Photo Booth Rentals, which offers a photo booth, props and an attendant for rental and gives guests a copy of their picture. If you are thinking of wearing themed wedding attire, check out A to Z Party Rental, which has 3,500 costumes to choose from. The spot also rents out cotton candy machines, hot dog rollers, disco balls and more.
