Kari & Justin
May 16, 2009; Wesley United Methodist Church, Springfield.
As seen in 417 Magazine, September 2009
Kari Herndon first met Justin Wyrsch at a mutual friend’s downtown Springfield loft. The couple went on their first date later that week. “At the time, I had just moved back from three years in L.A. and was staying at my parents’ house,” Kari says. “I remember thinking ‘Oh my gosh. I am 25 years old and am going on a first date with this amazing guy, and he is going to have to meet my parents?’ I felt like I was 16 again!” The couple went on a date at Gallery Bistro, and Kari says she knew he was something special.
On New Year’s Eve 2008, Justin picked Kari up to take her to meet some friends for dinner. Kari asked Justin if she looked okay, and he said, “You look fantastic. But I think you are missing something.” Kari began to look through her jewelry to see what else she could wear, and at that moment Justin said, “I think you should be wearing this.” She turned to find Justin on one knee with the ring box in his hand.
The couple married on May 16, 2009 at Wesley United Methodist Church. A reception immediately followed at Highland Springs Country Club. Justin, a graphic designer, designed the wedding invitations and the programs, which featured a crossword puzzle that asked questions on how well guests knew the bride and groom. Since Justin hates cake, he and the best man made a meat cake, made with layers of meatloaf and mashed potatoes, to replace the groom’s cake.
The matron of honor was Mitzi Lewis, and Tessa Rhodus, Amy Morrison, Holly Baker, Andrea Bogart and Deni Shea Cooper were bridesmaids. John Gray was the best man, and Michael Wyrsch, Brad Lewis, Xin Liu, Paul Parrigon and Jim Golhoffer were groomsmen.
